Parliament House is open to the public throughout the year.

Repair work on front steps

Parliament House's front steps are being repaired. Exposure to the elements, gradual deterioration of caulking and lack of waterproofing have led to water leaking into and damaging the building. The repair work is expected to run from October 2012 to December 2013.

You can still visit Parliament House through the main entrance at the top of the steps. Tours are still running.

See Parliament in action

When Parliament is sitting, visitors are welcome to come in and see Parliament in action. The Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly (the Houses) both have public galleries, which are open whenever the House is sitting.

Security

Visitors to Parliament House are required to pass through a security checkpoint before entering the building. This involves a walk through scanner and baggage scanning. Visitors with pace makers should ask to be scanned using the hand held scanners.

Bags must be left at reception when taking part in a tour or sitting in the public galleries.

Facilities

Audio loops are available in the Chambers. These can be used in conjunction with hearing aids.

Disabled access is through the rear door at Parliament House (enter via McArthur Street). Disabled toilets are located on the ground and first floors. First Aid assistance is available.

Baby change and feeding room

Located on the second floor on the Legislative Assembly side. Facilities include comfortable chairs, change table, basin hot and cold water, a fridge and a microwave.

Public tours

Public tours of Parliament are conducted on days when Parliament is not sitting. There is no need to book for groups of less than 6 people. Public tours take place at 9.30 am, 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 1.30 pm, 2.30 pm and 3.45 pm Monday to Friday from the Vestibule.
