Parliamentary Information Talks

The Parliament of Victoria is taking the Parliament to the people through its information talks program. Information talks are an opportunity for year 5, 6 and 7 students to learn about the Parliament from experienced Parliament tour guides in their own classroom.

Students will learn about the Parliament, its history and its role in the democratic process. Students will be able to hold a replica Mace and Black Rod and look at other props including Hansard and a bill.

If you are unable to come to Parliament House for a tour, give us a call and we will bring the Parliament to you!

Information talks are conducted by experienced staff members who regularly work with school groups. The topics covered are designed to assist in meeting Level 4 of the Civics and Citizenship domain of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). Information talks teach students how the Parliament of Victoria:

  • makes laws
  • provides representative democracy for Victorians
  • has a rich and colourful history
