School Tours & Role Plays
The Parliament of Victoria offers a range of activities for students at primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education levels.
School tours of Parliament House
Tours for primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education groups are available. Tours align with curriculum requirements such as Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS), VCE Legal Studies and International Studies Study Guides.
School tours take place at 9.00 am, 10.00 am, 11.00 am, 12.00 noon, 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm on non-sitting days. Tours are also available on sitting days, at 9.00 am, 10.00 am, 11.00 am, 1.30 pm (Question Time), 3.00 pm and 7.45 pm (on Tuesday and Wednesday nights only). As space is limited, bookings for Question Time can only be made for post-primary and adult groups.
The maximum number of students for each tour is 30.
See the Calendar for sitting days and Question Time details.
Parliament Role Plays
Parliament role plays give Year 5, 6 and 7 students the opportunity to act out the various roles in Parliament and pass their own law. This interactive activity takes place in the Legislative Assembly chamber and allows students to experience the law-making process first hand.
In 2011 we have extended our Role Plays to include Year 11 and 12 VCE Legal Studies students.
VCE Role Plays
The VCE Role Play is a new program for Year 11 and 12 VCE Legal Studies students, which allows students to gain an understanding of how a law is made by following a scripted role play of the 2007 Upskirting Bill.
Parliamentary Information Talks
Parliamentary information talks provide an opportunity for students to learn about Parliament from experienced Parliament tour guides in their own classroom — available to students in years 5, 6 and 7.

Tertiary Tours
The legislative process is an integral part of many tertiary courses. Parliament provides tours for tertiary students, customised for the appropriate level. Tours can also include a presentation from a Committee relevant to the students’ area of study. Previous presentations have included talks from academics, political journalists, and MPs on Committees.
