Jenny Lindell is the 33rd person to hold the office of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and was elected Speaker on 19 December 2006 , the first sitting day of the 56th Parliament of Victoria.
Jenny is the second female Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
Jenny was born in Melbourne on 19 December 1953 in Springvale and has lived and worked in the Carrum area since 1978.
Prior to entering Parliament, Jenny worked for twenty years as a medical radiographer, before serving as an Electoral Officer for both State and Federal Members from 1990 to 1999.
Jenny holds an Associate Diploma in Medical Radiations (RMIT). Jenny was educated at St Joseph's PS Springvale, 1958-64, and Killester College, Springvale, 1965-70.
In September 1999, Jenny was elected as a Member of Parliament to represent the Electoral District of Carrum in the Legislative Assembly.
During her time as the Member for Carrum, Jenny has served as:
- Member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee (1999–2006);
- Chair, Environment and Natural Resources Committee (2003–2006);
- Member of the Legislative Assembly Privileges Committee (2003-2006);
- Acting Speaker (2003-2006).
Jenny has a strong commitment to being actively involved in her local community and to supporting the needs of those living in the local area. Jenny's interests and community involvement have included:

- Friends of Edithvale Seaford Wetlands;
- The Aspendale-Edithvale Village Committee;
- Aspendale Primary School Council;
- Mordiallock Secondary College Council;
- Delegate, ALP State Conference 1987-1999;
- Member, Administrative Committee of the ALP 1991-1993;
- ALP Chelsea Branch Executive 1985-1998;
Her hobbies include reading, bush walking and cricket.
Jenny is married with two children.
