Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee
Report on the Statute Law (Further Revision) Bill
March 2006
Recommendations
The Committee is satisfied that the amendments made to the Acts listed in Schedule 1 of the Bill are not of a substantive nature and only seek to correct minor grammatical, spelling or cross-referencing revisions and are therefore appropriate to be contained in a Statute Law Revision Bill.
The Committee considers that the repeal of the 147 spent or redundant Acts listed in Schedule 2 is appropriate.
The Committee notes the four (4) unproclaimed Acts listed in Appendix 2.
The Committee notes that it has received advice concerning the desirability of retaining three (3) of these unproclaimed Acts.
In respect to the Adoption (Amendment) Act 1991 the Committee notes that it has received advice from the Minister that this unproclaimed Act may now be repealed. The Committee will seek further advice from the Minister as to whether this Act will be included in the next Statute Law Revision Bill.
