Review of The most renowned commemorative activities on ANZAC Day are the dawn services and the marches. These are time honoured tributes to the ANZAC spirit, and, are certainly the most powerful expressions of commemoration held on ANZAC Day. However, the Committee considers there is scope for other related activities to be pursued, not necessarily solely on ANZAC Day. In this regard, the Committee notes that throughout Victoria numerous additional commemorative initiatives and projects are undertaken. The extent of these is often limited by budget constraints. The Committee considers that commemoration initiatives should be eligible for funding from the ANZAC Day Proceeds Fund[77]. Further, the Committee considers that the ANZAC Day Education and Commemoration Committee should have, in effect, a function to oversight the commemorative activities and to facilitate advancement of projects relating[78] to:
In considering the scope that is available for commemoration initiatives the Committee had the benefit of a presentation demonstrating the approach taken in Queensland[79]. The Committee considers that it will be a worthwhile function of the proposed ANZAC Day Education and Commemoration Committee to consider commemoration initiatives.
