Accident Compensation (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill
The Bill abolishes certain rights of action at common law and
amends the Accident Compensation Act 1985 for the purpose of changing the scheme.
Alpine Resorts Bill
The Bill establishes an Alpine Resorts Co-ordinating Council
and three Alpine Resorts Management Boards.
Alpine Resorts (Management) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to establish an Alpine Resorts
Co-ordinating Council and six Alpine Resorts Management Boards and provide for the
management of several alpine resorts.
Anglican Welfare Agency Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to incorporate an Anglican Welfare
Agency as the successor in law of the Anglican Mission to the Streets and Lanes of
Melbourne, the Mission of St James and St John at St Johns Homes for Boys and Girls.
Appropriation (1997/8) Bill
The Bill provides appropriation for the ongoing operation of
departments for the 1997/8 financial year.
Appropriation (Parliament 1997/8) Bill
The Bill provides appropriation for the Parliament for the
1997/8 financial year.
Associations Incorporation (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Associations Incorporation Act 1981
to improve the operation of the Act.
Audit (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Audit Act 1994.
Board of Studies (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Board of Act 1993 to expand the
objective of the Board to provide for guidelines and procedures to be developed for
courses for students outside Victoria.
Building (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Building Act 1993 to improve the
administration and operation of that Act.
Business Franchise Fees (Safety Net) Bill
The Bill amends Business Franchise Acts to remove the
requirement for petroleum and tobacco wholesalers and retailers to be licensed or pay a
licence fee and to authorise the Treasurer to make certain payments and appropriate to the
Consolidated Fund for that purpose.
Commonwealth Powers (Family Law-Children) (Amendment)
Bill
The Bill confers jurisdiction on the Commonwealth to make laws
with respect to custody, guardianship and access matters in respect of ex-nuptial
children.
Confiscation Bill
The Bill makes provision for confiscation procedures in
respect of property.
Constitution and Parliamentary Committees (Amendment)
Bill
The Bill amends the Constitution Act 1975 to clarify
ambiguities and amends the Parliamentary Committees Act 1968 to provide flexibility
to the bases upon which expense and travelling allowances are paid to Committee members.
Constitution (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Constitution Act 1975 in elation to
the publication, transmission and broadcasting of Parliamentary proceedings and papers.
Construction Industry Long Service Leave Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to repeal the Construction
Industry Long Service Leave Act 1983 and to provide for a portable long service leave
scheme owned and administered by the construction industry.
Crimes (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Crimes Act
1958 and the Evidence Act 1958 in relation to procedural changes on trials of
sexual offences.
Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried)
Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to define the criteria for
determining if a person is unfit to stand trial and to replace the common law defence of
insanity with a statutory defence of mental impairment.
Disability Services and Other Acts (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Adoption Act
1984, the Childrens Services Act 1996, the Community Services Act
1970, the Disability Services Act 1991 and the Intellectually Disabled
Persons Services Act 1986.
Docklands Authority (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to amend the operation of the Docklands
Authority Act 1991 to improve the operation of that Act and to repeal the Development
Areas Act 1973.
Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances (Amendment)
Bill
The Bill makes provision for the issuing of authorities to
grow and process low-THC cannabis for commercial and research purposes relating to
non-therapeutic use.
Education (Audio Visual and Audio Linking) Bill
The Bill facilitates appearance before or the giving of
evidence or making of submissions to courts by audio visual or audio links.
Education (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill updates the Education Act 1958 to provide that
regulations may be made which confer a discretion or duty on or leave a matter to be
determined or approved by the Minister or a Departmental officer.
Education (Preschools) Bill
The Bill amends the Education Act 1958 with respect to
the provision of preschool programs.
Education (Standards Council) Bill
The Bill makes further provision for the Standards Council of
the Teaching Profession.
Education (State Schools) Bill
The Bill amends the Education Act 1958 to make further
provision relating to State Schools.
Education (Trespass) Bill
The Bill amends the Education Act 1958 with respect to
trespassing on State schools.
Education (Work Experience) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Education Act
1958 to make further provision for work experience arrangements.
Electricity Industry (Loy Yang B) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to facilitate the sale of the Loy
Yang B power station.
Electricity Industry (Further Miscellaneous Amendment)
Bill
The Bill makes miscellaneous amendments to the Electricity
Industry Act 1993.
Electricity Industry (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to provide for further
miscellaneous amendment of the Electricity Industry Act 1993 and for the
corporatisation and privatisation of Power Net Victoria.
Environment Conservation Council Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to establish an Environment
Conservation Council to conduct investigations into the use or development of public land
within the State or any flora, fauna or minerals on, above or under that land or water
flowing over that land. It also repeals the Land Conservation Act 1970.
Epworth Hospital (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes provision for a charitable body called the
Epworth Foundation and to provide for the transfer of the Epworth Hospital to Epworth
Hospital Limited.
Evidence (Audio Visual and Audio Linking) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to facilitate appearance before, or
the giving of evidence or making of submissions to, courts by audio visual or audio links.
Financial Institutions Legislation (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Building Societies
Act 1986, the Co-operative Housing Societies Act 1958 and the Financial
Institutions (Victoria) Act 1992.
Financial Management (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to change the name of the annual
statement of financial operations and the periods for the report on and tabling of the
statement.
Fire Authorities (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 and
the Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act 1958 to improve their operation
and administration.
Fisheries (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes amendments to the Fisheries Act 1995
with respect to the licensing system, the system of declaring fisheries and the manner of
declaring noxious aquatic species.
Food (Amendment) Bill
The Bill establishes a food safety program and enables the
recall of food that poses a risk to public health and generally improves the operation of
the Food Act 1984.
Forests (Dunstan Agreement) (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to ratify a further agreement and
to amend the Forests (Dunstan Agreement) Act 1987.
Friendly Societies (Victoria) (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Friendly Societies Code which is template
legislation for all participating States and Territories.
Gaming Acts (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes miscellaneous amendments to the Gaming and
Betting Act 1994, the Gaming Machine Control Act 1991, the Club Keno Act
1993 and the Tattersall Consultations Act 1958.
Gaming Acts (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill
The Bill improves the regulation of the electronic gaming
machine industry.
Gaming No.2 Bill
The Bill revises the law relating to the regulation,
supervision and control of minor gaming to ensure that gaming practices are conducted
honestly.
Gas Industry (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes provision for the further restructure and
reform of the gas industry.
Gas Industry (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes further provision for the restructure and
reform of the gas industry.
Gas Safety Bill
The Bill makes provision for the safe conveyance, sale,
supply, measurement, control and use of gas and to generally regulate gas safety.
Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes further provision for the membership of the
Geelong Performing Arts Centre Trust.
Guardianship and Administration Board (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes miscellaneous amendments to the Guardianship
and Administration Board Act 1986 and consequential amendments to the Medical
Treatment Act 1988 and the Mental Health Act 1986.
Health Services (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to make miscellaneous amendments to
the Health Services Act 1988.
Health Services (Community Health Centres) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to change the method of selection
and appointment of boards of management of community health centres.
Health Services (St Andrews Hospital) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to repeal the St Andrews
Hospital Act 1978 and the St Andrews Hospital (Guarantee) Act 1978 and to
provide that the body corporate known as the Secretary to the Department of Human Services
is the successor in law of St Andrews Hospital.
Heritage (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Mineral Resources Development Act
1990 to make further provision with respect to consequential amendments made by the Heritage
Act 1995.
Hire Purchase (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Hire Purchase Act 1959 to allow for
the passing on of the rental business duty to the hirer.
Hire Purchase (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Hire-Purchase Act 1959 to limits
its application to certain hire purchase agreements.
Infertility Treatment (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to repeal the provisions in
relation to the Standing Review and Advisory Committee on Infertility and extend access to
treatment procedures under the Act to de facto couples living together as husband and wife
on a genuine basis.
Introduction Agents Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to provide for fair trading within
the introduction agency industry by setting minimum standards for the industry and
establishing a means of disqualifying certain people from the industry.
Land (Reservations and Other Matters) Bill
The Bill revokes reservations over various parcels of land and
revokes Crown Grants in relation to some of that land.
Land (Revocation of Miscellaneous Reservations) Bill
The Bill revokes reservations of areas of land and a Crown
grant in relation to one of those areas of land.
Land Tax (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Land Tax Act 1958 to alter the
rates and thresholds for land tax.
Law and Justice Legislation Amendment Bill
The Bill makes amendments to a number of Acts within the
Justice portfolio in respect of the reform of the law relating criminal trespass, the
provision of interstate summary protection orders and the alteration of the composition
and method of appointment of the board of directors of Victoria Legal Aid.
Law and Justice Legislation (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes miscellaneous amendments to the Bail Act
1977 with respect to the factors to be considered in determining whether to grant bail.
Legal Practice (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Legal Practice Act 1996 to make
provision for interstate practitioners to engage in legal practice in Victoria and to
regulate the practice of foreign law in Victoria by foreign lawyers.
Livestock Disease Control (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Livestock Disease Control Act 1994,
the Stamps Act 1958 and makes further provision for livestock disease compensation
funds.
Local Government (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Local Government Act 1989 to
clarify the powers of the Chief Executive Officers of Councils, to make changes concerning
competitive tendering by Councils, to abolish the Local Government Board to enable the
creation of local government panels, to make changes concerning the payment of rates,
charges and interest on overdue rates and charges and to generally improve the operation
of the Act.
Local Government (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Local Government
Act 1989 in respect of mayoral and councillor allowances and the election of
councillors.
Melbourne City Link (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Melbourne City Link Act 1995 to
make provision for the Exhibition Street Extension Project and improve the operation of
the Act.
Melbourne Lands (Yarra River North Bank) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to enable the granting of long
term leases for certain land adjacent to the Yarra River, to provide for certain
consequential rights and for the divesting of land shown on the plan in Schedule 2 from
the Melbourne City Council.
Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works (Amendment)
Bill
The Bill empowers Melbourne Water Corporation to levy a
special drainage and river improvement rate in the Pattersons Lakes area and validate the
metropolitan drainage and river improvement rates levied in that area since its inclusion
in the metropolis on 6 November 1991.
Melbourne and Olympic Parks (Amendment) Bill
The Bill extends the functions of the Melbourne and Olympic
Parks Trust and provides for Melbourne and Olympic Parks to have borrowing and investment
powers.
Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the boundaries of the Melbourne Sports and
Aquatic Centre to land to provide for the lease over that land.
Melbourne University (VCAH) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to provide for the merger of the
Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture with the University of Melbourne.
Mental Health (Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental
Health) Bill
The Bill establishes the Victorian Institute of Forensic
Mental Health.
Miscellaneous Acts (Omnibus No.3) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to a number of Acts.
National Australia Bank and Bank of New Zealand Bill
The Bill provides for the transfer of the Australian banking
business of the Bank of New Zealand to the National Australia Bank.
National Electricity (Victoria) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to facilitate the introduction of a
national electricity market. The Bill is template legislation.
Office of the Regulator-General (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes minor amendments to the Office of the
Regulator-General Act 1994.
Planning and Environment (Amendment) Bill
The Bill confers certain powers on the Secretary of the
Development of Infrastructure in relation to development projects of State or regional
significance.
Podiatrists Registration Bill
The Bill provides for the registration of podiatrists and
investigations into the professional conduct and fitness to practise of registered
podiatrists.
Police and Corrections (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Control of Weapons
Act 1990, the Firearms Act 1996, the Corrections Act 1986 and the Police
Regulation Act 1958. The amendments relate to the contracting out of the transport of
prisoners, detainees and other matters.
Port Services (Amendment) Bill
The Bill abolishes the Port of Melbourne Authority, the Port
of Geelong Authority and the Port of Portland Authority.
Project Development and Construction Management
(Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to make certain amendments to the Project
Development and Construction Management Act 1994 to provide for additional
powers relating to land.
Prostitution Control (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to improve the efficiency and
effectiveness of the Prostitution Control Board, improve the operation of the Act and
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the licensing system established under the
Act.
Racing (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to restructure the Greyhound
Racing Control Board and to create the position of chief executive officer of the Board.
Rail Corporations (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Rail Corporations
Act 1966, the Transport Act 1983 and reform the public transport system in
Victoria.
Residential Tenancies Bill
The Bill defines the rights and duties of landlords and
tenants of rented premises, rooming houses, caravan owners, caravan parks. It also
establishes the Residential Tenancies Tribunal.
Road Safety (Disclosure of Information) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to amend the Road Safety Act
1986 with respect to disclosure and use of information held by the Roads Corporation and
make amendments of a statute law revision nature.
Road Transport (Dangerous Goods) (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to exclude certain classes of
dangerous goods from the application of the provisions of the Road Transport Reform
(Dangerous Goods) Act 1995 of the Commonwealth and the regulations under Part 2 of
that Act that apply as the laws of Victoria.
Sentencing (Amendment) Bill
The purposes of the Bill are to make changes in respect of the
appeal provisions, the introduction of penalties and the conversion of community-based
orders.
Sentencing and Other Acts (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the Sentencing Act 1991 to make fresh
provision for various sentencing orders and penalties and other matters.
Snowy Hydro Corporatisation Bill
The Bill reforms the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme by
corporatising the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Authority and making related changes to
the Scheme.
St Andrews Foundation Bill
The Bill provides for the transfer of certain charitable
donations and bequests to the trustees of the St Andrews Foundation.
State Taxation Acts (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to several Taxation Acts.
State Taxation (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes further amendments to several Taxation Acts.
State Taxation Acts (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Business Franchise
(Petroleum Products) Act 1979, the Pay-roll Tax Act 1971 and the Stamps
Act 1958.
Superannuation Acts (Miscellaneous Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to amend specified superannuation
legislation to facilitate further changes in the administration of public sector
superannuation schemes.
Taxation Administration Bill
The Bill standardises the administration and enforcement
provisions of a number of Victorian taxation laws.
Transport Acts (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to improve the regulation of the
towing industry and revoke reservations over certain lands for tramway purposes.
Unclaimed Moneys (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to provide for the payment of
certain unclaimed retirement savings account money into the Consolidated Fund instead of
to the Commonwealth Commissioner of Taxation under the Retirement Savings Accounts Act
1997 of the Commonwealth.
Unclaimed Moneys (Superannuation Benefits) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to provide for the payment of
certain unclaimed superannuation benefits into the Consolidated Fund instead of to the
Commissioner under the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993.
University Acts (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes amendments to various Acts establishing
Victorian Universities.
University of Ballarat (Amendment) Bill
The Bill amends the University of Ballarat Act 1993 to provide
for the merger of The School of Mines and Industries Ballarat Limited and the Wimmera
Institute of TAFE with the University of Ballarat and to make provision for other matters.
Urban Land Corporation Bill
The Bill establishes the Urban Land Corporation and repeals
the Urban Land Authority Act 1979.
Teaching Service (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes minor amendments to the Teaching Service Act
1981.
Veterinary Practice Bill
The Bill establishes the Veterinary Practitioners Registration
Board of Victoria and the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board Fund.
Victims of Crime Assistance (Amendment) Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to make miscellaneous amendments to
the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 1996.
Vocational Education and Training (Training Framework)
Bill
The Bill makes further provision for vocational education and
training and adult, community and further education.
Water Acts (Further Amendment) Bill
The Bill removes the rating powers of Melbourne Water
Corporation and enables the imposition of fees and charges to be imposed on domestic and
stock users of groundwater in a groundwater supply protection area and enable permanent
interstate trading in water.
Wildlife (Amendment) Bill
The Bill makes various amendments to the Wildlife Act
1975 and the Conservation, Forests and Lands Act 1987.
Wills Bill
The purpose of the Bill is to re-state with amendments, the
law relating to wills in Victoria by making provision for certain matters.
