APPENDIX H
TIME COMPARISON - SPEED CAMERA OPERATION AGAINST
ROAD TRAUMA STATISTICS (TRAFFIC CAMERA OFFICE)
Explanatory Notes
This diagram brings together four sets of information and plots them for the 24 hours of an average day during the four month period from May 1994 to August 1994. The four sets are:
Collisions (green line) recorded on the Victorian Traffic Accident Information System (T.A.I.S.);
Injuries (blue line);
Speed camera hours: May 1994 to July 1994 (red line); and
Speed camera hours: July 1994.
The Traffic Camera Office produces similar plots each month for each Police district.
It might be noted that the collisions and serious injuries peak in the mid-to-late afternoon whereas speed camera hours are concentrated in the late morning period.
