The Committee has seven members drawn from the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. It is bipartisan; including representatives of the Liberal, Labor and National Parties. The Members come from many different backgrounds and have a wide variety of interests within rural and regional Victoria.

Mr Damian Drum MLC (Committee Chairman)
Member for Northern Victoria
Damian Drum is a well known sports personality who, before entering Parliament in 2002, was a businessman and football coach at AFL (Sydney Swans and Fremantle Dockers), and local level (Bendigo Diggers). Damian grew up in Shepparton and now lives in Bendigo. He served on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee from 2003-2006.

Ms Gayle Tierney MLC (Committee Deputy Chair)
Member for Western Victoria
Before entering Parliament in 2006, Gayle Tierney was State Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union - Vehicle Division and ACTU Executive Member and Federal President - AMWU Vehicle Division.


Ms Kaye Darveniza MLC
Member for Northern Victoria
Before entering Parliament in 1999, Kaye was a Registered Nurse and held executive postions in the Health and Community Services Union. In 2006 Kaye was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development. Kaye has previously served on the Economic Development and House Committees.


Ms Kirstie Marshall MP OAM
Member for Forest Hill
Kirstie Marshall is an Olympic and World Cup Champion skier, who has held positions with the World Cup Safety Committee, Olympic Winter Institute and Australian Olympic Committee. Kirstie was first elected to Parliament in 2002 and served on the Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee from 2003 to 2006.


Ms Wendy Lovell MLC
Member for Northern Victoria
Before entering Parliament Wendy Lovell was a business woman in the Newsagency and Lottery industry. Wendy was first elected in 2002 and is the Deputy Leader of the Liberals in the Legislative Council. She previously served on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee from 2003 – 2006.


Mr Russell Northe MP
Member for Morwell
Before entering Parliament in 2006 Russell Northe was a player and coach with the Traralgon Football Club and the Footscray Football Club. He was involved on various business and sporting committees and was the Manager of a successful business based in Morwell.


Mr John Vogels MLC
Member for Western Victoria
Before entering Parliament in 1999, John Vogels was a dairy farmer in the rural community of Scotts Creek. He served as Councillor and Mayor in Corangamite Shire. John is the Shadow Minister for Agriculture and formerly held the Shadow Portfolios of Local Government and Victorian Communities.
