Career
Spent some years in Ceylon and India; arrived Vic. 1859; established Castlemaine breweries with his brother Edward and extended to Melbourne and other colonies; owned pastoral property in NSW and Queensland. Member Federal Convention, Sydney 1891, and Colonial Conference, Ottawa 1894. Received papal knighthood and was a leader of Catholic laity.;
