Functions
The Outer Suburban/Interface Services Development Committee was one of the three new Joint Investigatory Committees set up by the Parliamentary Committees and Parliamentary Salaries and Superannuation Acts (Amendment) Act 2003.
The Committee consists of eight Members of Parliament, three drawn from the Legislative Council and five from the Legislative Assembly. It is chaired by Mr George Seitz, MP.
The functions of the Outer Suburban/Interface Services and Development Committee are to inquire into, consider and report to the Parliament on any proposal, matter or thing concerned with -
- the provision of services to new urban regions
- the development or expansion of new urban regions
The following municipal councils are considered by the Committee as being 'outer suburban' areas:
- Wyndham
- Melton
- Hume
- Whittlesea
- Nillumbik
- Yarra Ranges
- Cardinia
- Mornington Peninsula
The following municipal councils are considered by the Committee as being 'peri-urban' areas:
- Greater Geelong
- Moorabool
- Macedon Ranges
- Mitchell
- Murrindindi
- Baw Baw
- South Gippsland
- Bass Coast
