This database contains events of historical importance to the Parliament of Victoria from 1788 to the present. It was created and is managed by the Parliamentary Library.

Searching

You can search in either of three different ways (and each has its own Search button)

1. Browse by decade
   Click one of the decade boxes, e.g. 1840s to view events from e.g. 1840-1849.
2. Search by date
   You can search on a day, or month, or year independently (e.g. "11 November", or "October 1999", or "April" or "31")
3. Advanced search
   You can search for keywords, optionally combined with a fixed subject heading or a date.
   Keywords may be combined with operators, such as AND (use & ), OR (use / ) or NOT (use ! ) to refine your search,
   for example eureka stockade & carboni, and an asterisk for right-truncation (e.g. stock* to match stock, stocks, stocking, stockade etc.)
   Date range searches may also be done using the Date selection box.
