On the 2 June 2009 the Environment and Natural Resources Committee tabled its report on Melbourne's Future Water Supply.

April 2009

The Committee called for written submissions to its inquiry into the Approvals Process for Renewable Energy Projects in Victoria by 15 June 2009. Refer to the media release here ->


February 2009

On 17 February, Committee members conducted site inspections to the following organisations -

  • Rossdale Golf Club to investigate a CSIRO sponsored aquifer storage and recovery project being trialed at the course.

  • South East Water to investigate the third pipe recycling project at Sandhurst Estate.

  • Melbourne City Council to investigate the stormwater capture and treatment projects being implemented at Royal Park.

As part of the Inquiry into Melbourne's Future Water Supply the Committee held a public hearing on 2 February at Parliament House, Melbourne.

The Committee heard evidence from the following witnesses -

  • Yarra Valley Water (on behalf of Melbourne's Water Retailers)
  • Royal Park Protection Group Inc.
  • Protectors of Public Land Inc.
  • Mr Geoff Croker
  • Office of the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability
  • Essential Services Commission

December 2008

4 December

  • The Committee received terms of reference from the Legislative Assembly to inquire, consider and report no later than 31 December 2009 on opportunities to reduce red tape associated with the approvals process for renewable energy projects in Victoria.
