Professional Development for Teachers

Professional development courses for school teachers and teachers in the adult education sector (ESL and adult literacy and numeracy).

School Teachers

Parliament provides several professional development sessions for teachers annually. One of these is in collaboration with the Civics and Citizenship Network and includes presentations from various agencies that also provide tours and resources in civics and citizenship.

The next event is due to be held at Parliament House on Monday 25th June 2012 and is for primary, secondary and pre-service teachers. Bring to life your civics and citizenship program! Join education officers from city based organisations and learn about what Melbourne has to offer your students.

The day runs from 9am to 3pm, and includes presentations from education officers from Parliament, Social Education Victoria, Law Institute of Victoria, DEECD, Old Melbourne Gaol, Big Issue Classroom, Old Treausury Building, Public Record Office Victoria and the  Victorian Electoral Commission.  There will also be a presentation on active democracy in the classroom run by VCE, a tour of Parliament, and a site visit in the afternoon to the Old Treasury Building or the Big Issue.

CRT is available to government schools subject to availability.
