Inquiry into
Personal Safety on the Public Transport System
The Parliamentary Crime Prevention Committee was ordered by the Governor in Council on the 22nd December, 1992 to enquire into and make recommendations upon Personal Safety on the Public Transport System. The Committee was asked to include comment regarding the incidence of crime, prosecution, penalties and new initiatives for improving safety.The inquiry included trains, trams, buses and taxis.
The First report "Developing a Safer Taxi Industry" made recommendations specifically in relation to taxis. The Second and Final report of the inquiry addresses and makes recommendations regarding rail stations, trains, trams and buses.
