Section 40 of the Constitution Act 1975 provides for the Speaker to have a casting vote. |

Standing Order 167 confirms the Speaker’s power to have a casting vote, and requires that if the Speaker gives reasons for the casting vote, those reasons are recorded in the Votes and Proceedings. |
