Parliamentary interns graduate

Library Interns 2016Thirty-five students from three universities have graduated from the Victorian Parliamentary Internship Program.

Now in its 26th year, the internship program provides students with the opportunity to prepare research reports in consultation with members of the Victorian Parliament.

The students from Monash University, the University of Melbourne and Victoria University were presented with their graduation certificates by President of the Legislative Council Bruce Atkinson and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Telmo Languiller.

The Presiding Officers’ Prize for most outstanding research report was awarded jointly to Ellen Gray from Victoria University, for her report on a sustainable approach to coastal management and funding, and to Gabe Lefkovits from Monash University, for his report on methods to reduce drug‑related harm.

This year the Parliamentary Internship Program has expanded to include students from La Trobe University and Swinburne University of Technology, who have started their internships this semester.
