The Serjeant-at-Arms attends the Chamber at all times when the House is sitting and provides general assistance to the Clerks when needed.
On a sitting day, the duties of the Serjeant-at-Arms include:

Recording the attendance of members. |

Delivering messages to the Legislative Council. |

Escorting suspended members from the Chamber [see Fact Sheet 7 - Decorum in the House]. |

Announcing to the Speaker any stranger (ie someone other than a member or Chamber officer) wishing to enter the House. |

Maintaining order in the galleries. |
|
· |
Taking any stranger guilty of misconduct in the gallery or the House into custody. |
